Here are some basic checks that you can do immediately to identify a good posture<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Neutral spine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bodyweight distributed evenly on both feet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hips and shoulders even<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These are general guidelines and can vary as per the body type. Poor posture has chronic disease risks associated. Liver function may be directly affected due to interference with nerves that connect to the liver and its arteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This interference can lead to necrosis\u2014the death of liver cells. This defect in the organ that regulates blood sugar levels promotes the development of type 2 diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ultrahuman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/health-posture-affect.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.ultrahuman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/health-posture-affect.jpeg 750w, https:\/\/blog.ultrahuman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/health-posture-affect-300x200.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In a study with 74 participants, upright participants reported higher self-esteem, more arousal, better mood, and lower fear, compared to slumped participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The slouched sitting position also suggested a reduced diaphragm tension and movement compared to an upright position as a result of altered body posture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poor posture isn&#8217;t just a result of bad sitting or movement habits but also a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ultrahuman.com\/functional-fitness-workout-and-its-impact-on-your-mobility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">function of mobility and strength<\/a> <\/em>of stabilizing muscles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For eg., tight chest muscles lead to slouching. For people who take up strength training, balancing out muscle groups becomes an important aspect for these reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4905897\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lifestyle issues like sitting for long hours and smartphone usage <\/a><\/em>(text neck) also lead to tightness in the neck or <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ultrahuman.com\/importance-of-hip-mobility-and-exercises-to-improve-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hip muscles<\/a><\/em>, leading to poor posture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that you can significantly improve your posture with proper form guidance and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For most people, minor changes go a long way.
