Coke is a sugar-sweetened beverage that can contribute to health problems like obesity and hyperglycemia. Glucose, fructose and sucrose in Coke can cause your blood sugar to spike, which can, over time, lead to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Consumption of soft drinks is linked with obesity in children and adolescents.
Although coke is popular, it’s not the best choice for your health. There are many other healthy alternatives to choose from that can help you kick your soda habit!

Try healthy substitutes for coke
• You can try healthier soda substitutes such as lemon water or lemon soda salted without sugar.
• Sweetened drinks can be a good choice if you make them at home with the right amount of sugar.
• Jaljeera water or simple buttermilk (flavoured with pudina) can help you stay hydrated and cool during the hot summer months.

Frequent consumption of Coke can put you at risk for metabolic syndrome, which is a cluster of conditions that includes high blood pressure, high blood sugar and excess body fat around the waist. Metabolic syndrome increases your risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. So, if you’re trying to be healthy, you should consider cutting out the excess sugar from your diet.
