How to maximize Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery life

How to extend your Ultrahuman Riung AIR battery life and preserve it for years to come

Great battery life is hugely important to Ultrahuman, and it’s key to generating meaningful health insights.

Long battery life enables better tracking. When you don’t need to take your ring off to charge, it means fewer gaps in your data. It’s one reason why people are shifting to smart rings to monitor their health and fitness.

Here’s everything you need to know about maximizing your Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery and protecting it for the future.

How long is Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery life?

Unlike most smartwatches, which barely last a day, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR can last between 4–6 days on a single charge.

However, Chill Mode, the new default battery mode for Ultrahuman Ring AIR that launched in April 2025, extends battery life by up to 35%.

How to manage the Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery

Activate chill mode

In a big April 2025 update to the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, we introduced a host of battery profiles and power-saving options to give users more control over the Ultrahuman Ring AIR.

To access the battery profiles, head to the My Ring menu (in the top right) and then tap on Choose a battery usage mode. You can then switch between Turbo Mode, Chill Mode, and Critical Battery Mode.

Here’s how they differ:

Chill Mode (default)

The brand-new Chill Mode dials back all-day tracking and focuses on health monitoring during sleep and restful periods to extend battery life intelligently, while still offering insightful data.

You can expect around 35% longer battery life in Chill mode than in Turbo Mode. What’s more, you still get the same insights on sleep, recovery, and movement, so it still offers a holistic look at health.

However, will lose out on Stress Rhythm, which is unavailable in Chill Mode. That will also impact some real-time adjustments of your Dynamic Recovery Score, which takes into account stress experienced in certain circadian zones.

But for most people, Chill Mode’s extra battery life enables more flexibility and retains the insights they love the most.

Turbo Mode

Turbo Mode was the default setting for Ultrahuman Ring AIR, but is now an opt-in mode for users who want the most in-depth tracking. Turbo Mode runs all sensors at full intensity for continuous, all-day tracking.

Turbo Mode unlocks the richest health insights, including all-day Stress Rhythm tracking. However, users will see significantly higher battery use. In Turbo Mode the Ultrahuman Ring AIR will typically last around 4–6 days.

Critical Battery Mode

Previously called Stealth Mode, Critical Battery Mode strips down tracking to essential motion tracking. That means step count will be the only metric tracked until you can make it back to the charger.

Background Sync

Another new option introduced by Ultrahuman in the April 2025 update is Background Sync. Turned off by default, it means your Ultrahuman Ring AIR will only sync data once you open the app.

This saves significant battery life, although users will need to wait a few seconds while data updates. Toggle it on for continuous syncing, but with a battery life hit.

How to optimize battery performance

New Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery modes

Maintaining an optimal charging cycle can significantly extend the lifespan of your Ultrahuman Ring AIR battery.

  • Avoid full discharge: Don’t let the battery discharge completely before plugging it in. This can stress the battery and shorten its lifespan. Instead, try to plug it in when it gets to about 30%, if possible.
  • Don’t overcharge: Try not to keep your ring on the charger for extended periods after reaching 100%. Overcharging can generate excess heat and damage the battery over time.
  • Partial charging: Partial charging is generally better for lithium-ion batteries. That means charging your battery in shorter bursts throughout the day instead of one long charge. If possible, keep the battery level between 30% and 100%.
  • Calibrate occasionally: Calibration should be done once every few months. This involves discharging your battery fully until the device shuts off, then charging it back to 100% in one go. This enables the Ultrahuman Ring AIR’s software to accurately measure battery life.
