Caffeine Window upgrade

Your favorite Ultrahuman feature just got smarter. Caffeine Window, one of the most-loved features in the Ultrahuman community, is levelling up.

As part of our Early Summer Release Sprint, we’re introducing an upgraded Caffeine Window. Now, it’s personal with effortless tagging, real-time body caffeine levels, adaptable cut-off times, and detox advice.

You asked. We built it. Here’s what’s new.

Caffeine Window upgrade is rolling out over the next few days.

What’s new

Body caffeine

Dynamic body caffeine

Logging your beverage now dynamically updates your body’s caffeine levels. This enables you to smartly manage your intake and protect your deep sleep.

Easy logging

Logging caffeine is designed to be quick, delightful, and easy. You can log from the Caffeine Bar, which has a repository of hundreds of caffeinated beverages. Tagged drinks remain conveniently placed, so you can log from your recents with a single tap. You can also delete logs straight from the graph or the homepage timeline.

Now syncs with Brain Waste Clearance

Your Caffeine Window is now personalized using last night’s sleep quality and syncs with the state of your Brain Waste Clearance. If clearance is strong, Caffeine Window advises an Early Cut-Off. But if the Ring AIR detects particularly poor or fragmented sleep quality, it might advise a Caffeine Detox to boost brain recovery.

Why caffeine timing matters

Why timing matters

While many believe that late caffeine simply prevents you from falling asleep, the effects are more subtle. Even if you fall asleep normally, because caffeine lingers in your system for hours, it can fragment your sleep and decimate deep sleep.

Deep sleep fuels Brain Waste Clearance (also called glymphatic clearance), which is a biological rinse cycle that removes harmful byproducts like beta-amyloid and tau proteins that accumulate during the day.

But late caffeine impairs this process. In the long term, poor glymphatic clearance is linked to Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline.

How the upgraded Caffeine Window works

Detox advised

Caffeine Window now syncs with Ultrahuman’s Brain Waste Clearance, which analyzes how efficiently your brain flushes out toxins, using factors such as deep sleep, HRV, sleep debt, skin temperature, and more.

  • If your Brain Waste Clearance was strong, you earn a Caffeine Bonus and have a later cut-off.
  • If clearance was mildly impaired, the app will recommend an Early Cut-Off.
  • If last night’s clearance was poor, a Caffeine Detox is recommended to protect your deep sleep and kickstart a strong reset.

Summary

Caffeine Window upgrade now offers real-time tracking of body caffeine levels, personalized cut-off recommendations, and effortless logging via a vast beverage library.

Now integrated with Brain Waste Clearance, it adapts based on your sleep quality to protect long-term cognitive health.
