Those first months as a parent are an incredibly special time. However, sleep can become a scarce commodity. Some parents have it worse than others, but most will go through a period of rough sleep at some point in the first year.
Sleep deprivation from multiple awakenings can affect mood, cognitive performance, and energy levels, just when you need those things the most.
The New Parent PowerPlug tweaks the Ultrahuman Ring AIR’s sleep score and recovery algorithms to account for disrupted and irregular sleep patterns. The aim is to help new parents get a true picture of their sleep duration and make informed decisions to boost recovery and reduce sleep debt.
How it works
The New Parent PowerPlug on Ultrahuman Ring AIR applies flexible sleep timing and recovery thresholds, giving you more accurate, supportive scores, no matter how many feeds you gave in the night.
When you get good quality rest, no matter what time of day or night, you’ll see that reflected in the sleep and recovery markers within the Ultrahuman app. If you get poor sleep scores, or you’re racking up sleep debt (accumulated missed sleep over time), you can make informed decisions on prioritizing naps.

Benefits of the New Parent PowerPlug
A true reflection of your sleep score
The New Parent PowerPlug applies flexible sleep timing and recovery thresholds, giving you a more accurate score, even when your sleep looks unconventional on paper. It de-prioritizes deep sleep, sleep efficiency, restfulness, and REM sleep from your overall sleep score to enable users to get a fairer assessment of their sleep.
Encouragement, not criticism
New parents don’t need added pressure, so the New Parent PowerPlug offers encouragement and bigs up the mini-wins. Examples include “You got 2 full cycles — that’s a win!” or “You’re managing well despite 3 wake-ups last night.” The PowerPlug will also have a dedicated tile on the dashboard, which shows your baby’s development phase.

Gentler movement nudges
When the New Parent PowerPlug is active, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR reduces the daily goal to 7,000 steps to better reflect realistic activity levels during this phase. It also removes workout frequency as a contributing factor to overall recovery.
However, regular movement is still important. So the Ultrahuman Ring AIR rolls its workout frequency benefits into step count scoring. That means making time to get extra steps in will offer a boost in recovery.
Finally, you’ll see “Baby Wearing” in the workout list, so you’ll get extra benefit from strapping your baby to your front and going for a walk.
More reward for naps
In the face of sleep deprivation, short naps can have huge benefits for mood, concentration, and cognitive performance. Our improved Nap Detection V2, trained on over 1 million anonymous naps, precisely tracks short rest periods and incorporates them into your Recovery Score and Sleep Debt calculations in real time. And with the New Parent PowerPlug enabled, naps will have a bigger impact on your recovery.
Conclusion
New Parent PowerPlug tweaks and refines the algorithm to help moms and dads deal with this challenging and brilliant time of life. By offering a true reflection of sleep and a supportive experience, it’s designed to nudge users to maximize sleep opportunities for a cognitive and energy boost when they need it most.
