Context is everything when it comes to understanding your sleep, recovery, and overall health. Accurate data is powerful, but knowing why your biomarkers have changed is where real insight begins.

That’s why Ultrahuman created Smart Tags – a simple, powerful way to add meaningful context to your sleep and recovery data.

What are Smart Tags?

Smart Tags help you connect the dots between your habits and your health. They’re a way to annotate your Ultrahuman Ring AIR data with real-life context and start to build a deeper understanding of your body.

A heavy late dinner, a tough workout, a new supplement, or a couple of drinks – you can now understand what’s helping and what’s holding you back.

Ultrahuman now includes a library of hundreds of predefined tags to annotate your data. We’ve made Smart Tags as frictionless as possible, and many are automatically detected using your unique biomarkers and prompted for you to confirm – that’s what makes them so smart.

How Smart Tags offer frictionless context

Smart Tags

Smart Tags are automatically detected and suggested based on changes in your biomarkers. Just confirm with one tap in the Ultrahuman app to apply the suggested tag to your data.

For example, a late drop in heart rate, a higher resting heart rate, and elevated body temperature might trigger a “late-night meal” tag. You can always tweak the tag if there’s a better match.

Here are a few examples of Smart Tags available at launch:

  • Late-night meal
  • Fever detection
  • Late stimulants

And there are even more on the way, including travel, jetlag, sleep environment tags, and activity levels.

Auto Tags

Auto Tags help you understand the impact of sleep patterns and disruptions on your health. Examples include:

  • Stayed up late.
  • Overslept.
  • Immune system overload.
  • Recovery sleep.

These require no input and are automatically applied from patterns in your data.

Manual Tags

Smart and Auto Tags are designed to make annotating your data as frictionless as possible, but you’re still in total control. Search and apply any of the hundreds tags at any time.

Examples could include tagging a new supplement, period cramps or medication.

Where to find Smart Tags

There are multiple ways to quickly and easily add tags within the Ultrahuman app:

  • You can confirm suggested Smart Tags from the app, or quickly re-tag from the Tags library.
  • Add or review Auto Tags from the Timeline.
  • Review contextual tags, or add manual tags with time slots within Sleep or Recovery cards.

All tags will show up on the timeline within the Ultrahuman app. But Smart Tags are all about context, so they will be displayed near metrics they influence to help you connect the dots.

For example, cold plunge aids recovery, so it would be shown next to this score.

Likewise, having an evening cocktail could impact your sleep, so this tag would show up next to your sleep data.

Why use Smart Tags?

Tagging offers unique insights into how your body reacts to all manner of situations and stimuli – from sauna and yoga to medications and supplements.

Once you’ve tagged a few times, you’ll start seeing trends and patterns of how your body reacts. That insight enables you to understand how certain choices affect your recovery, sleep, and overall performance.

Over time, you’ll also see insights from the community, such as how many users displayed a positive or negative response to a specific tag.

And you’ll also be able to identify correlations. If you’re experimenting with supplements such as magnesium for sleep, tagging can provide reassurance about whether you’re seeing benefits.

Conclusion

Smart Tags connect the dots between your data and real life, and add the context needed to understand your sleep, recovery, and overall health.

By layering in the why behind changes in sleep and recovery, you unlock deeper insights and more actionable feedback.

It’s not just about tracking what’s happening. It’s about understanding what’s driving it, so you can make smarter choices.
