Ultrahuman has announced that we have filed a patent infringement action in the Delhi High Court against Oura Health Oy and Ouraring Inc.

Threatened by Ultrahuman’s success, Oura has blatantly copied our advanced intellectual property, including women’s health features, circadian health tools, and glucose monitoring platform, thereby benefiting from our investment in public health without a license to do so.

The action taken today underscores our commitment to defending our intellectual property and Indian innovation on the global stage.

The patent, granted by the Indian Patent Office, protects Ultrahuman Ring AIR’s unique integration of sensors, construction, and onboard processing to deliver advanced insights, including sleep stages and recovery. Ultrahuman alleges that the Oura Ring 4 infringes this patent by incorporating all of these elements.

“We’ve been deeply focused on helping people do more with their health data by building cutting-edge, non-paywalled features,” an Ultrahuman spokesperson said.

“Recent industry coverage has raised concerns about Oura’s transactions and business practices. For example, Breaking Defense (March 2025) reported criticism of ‘backroom deals’ while DCRainmaker (June 2024) cited a California federal court filing, though later dismissed on jurisdictional grounds, describing Oura’s ‘pattern of indiscriminate assertion of patent infringement against any and all competitors.’ Against this backdrop, when our own intellectual property is breached, we have no choice but to defend our innovation and take swift legal action.”

Protecting innovation, not paywalls

Ultrahuman has been a pioneer in the smart ring category – introducing mandatory subscription-free ownership of health data, deep customizability through PowerPlugs, the world’s first AFib detection on a smart ring, and clinical-grade women’s health innovation through the acquisition of viO Healthtech in the UK. By contrast, companies that replicate our breakthroughs only to lock them behind mandatory subscriptions are anti-innovation and anti-consumer.

These innovations are underpinned by our investments in science, design, and manufacturing, including the Texas UltraFactory, the first and only smart ring production facility in the United States.

Global leadership, rooted in India, we have established India as a hub for cutting-edge health technology, introducing several industry-firsts in recent years:

Ultrahuman M1 CGM (2021): The first consumer-facing continuous glucose monitoring platform, which made real-time glucose insights accessible to a global audience and sparked an entirely new category of metabolic health wearables.

Blood Vision: A groundbreaking platform that integrates comprehensive blood biomarker analysis with 24/7 wearable data, helping users connect the dots between lifestyle, physiology, and long-term health outcomes.

Ultrahuman Home: A connected health monitor designed to track and improve the quality of indoor environments – ensuring that the spaces where people spend most of their lives actively support better health.

Cycle and Ovulation Pro: Following the acquisition of viO, Ultrahuman launched the world’s most accurate ovulation tracking on a smart ring, delivering over 90% ovulation confirmation accuracy – a new benchmark for women’s health innovation with clinical-grade reliability and accessibility.

PowerPlugs: A suite of optional, modular capabilities that allow users to deeply customize their experience – including the world’s first AFib detection on a smart ring, clinical-grade Cycle & Ovulation Pro, and specialized modes for new parents, shift workers, and circadian rhythm health.

With this foundation, Ultrahuman continues to define the future of health technology, scaling innovation from India to the world.
